We had a lot to celebrate at our Board of Trustees meeting last night!

First, we recognized outstanding student achievements.

Roughly 230 students across South Carolina were selected to be on this year’s Honor Choir and 4 of them are from Pacolet Elementary School!

They are:

Remi Price (5th grade)

Anna Hammitt (5th grade)

Madison Gossett (5th grade)

Ashlynn Hollis (5th grade)

Congratulations to these talented and hardworking students!

Honor Choir studentsNext, we recognized finalists of the Spartanburg School District Three Christmas Card Contest. Each elementary school had a student representative in the contest who submitted a design to the District Office. A 5-member committee selected one of the three pieces to be used as the cover of our Spartanburg School District Three Christmas Card.

Amy Guzman, a 5th grade student at Cannons Elementary, and Madeline Bailey, a 5th grade student at Cowpens Elementary, were finalists for the honor and Richard Thao, a 5th grade student at Pacolet Elementary, was the overall winner! Richard’s design, which included a fireplace and a Christmas tree with great attention to detail, will be featured on the cover of our District Three Christmas Card. Congratulations to Richard, Madeline and Amy for a job well done!

Christmas Card WinnerDuring staff recognitions, our Board of Trustees recognized Ms. Anna Buice and Ms. Ashlyn Taylor, teachers at Pacolet Elementary, for their acceptance into the ExploreLearning Frax Educator Grant Program! The program is focused on helping students succeed in mathematics. Ms. Ivy Garner, also at Pacolet Elementary, encouraged Ms. Buice and Ms. Taylor to apply and assisted them in the grant application process. She was also recognized. Congratulations, Ms. Buice, Ms. Taylor and Ms. Garner!

ExploreLearning Frax Educator Grant ProgramMs. Amanda Lee, music teacher at Pacolet Elementary, was recognized for earning a 2024-25 Arts in Education Arts Enhancement Program Grant from the South Carolina Department of Education for $10,000! Congratulations, Ms. Lee!

Art Enhancement Program GrantNext, our Board of Trustees recognized Broome High School’s Female Strength Team. Led by Coach Chad Cooksey, Coach Rebecca Cooper and Coach Liz Cooksey, the team won the 3A State Championship earlier this month at Blythewood High School! In addition to that, the team scored the highest total points of any team at the meet with 41 points!

Between the Varsity and JV divisions, Broome produced seven individual state champions! Sixteen athletes achieved All-State status, and 6 state records were broken! All 32 members of the team and their coaches were in attendance.
